PREVIEW: Syndicate

There are some games that occasionally just don’t register on my radar, and Syndicate was one of them. Please note that the main word in that previous sentence: was. I had the pleasure of heading down to the EA offices in Guildford to go hands-on with a level from the co-op campaign.

PREVIEW: Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning

I like Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. I like it a lot. Now usually when I get a chance to preview a game when I come back to write about it, we usually go with the Death By Robots faithful of ‘what I think of the game, I will take you through step by step what I did’: “I created my character and then I launched the game and then I swung my sword about and then I spoke to an NPC”… that kind of thing. But not today, oh no.

Saints Row: The Third is a sandbox game that despite it’s slightly shaky origin has grown quickly to establish itself, and is a fine contender for Rockstar’s open world crown.

PREVIEW: Rayman: Origins

During my time amongst the new games of this year, such as Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, at the Ubisoft summer showcase last week, I happened across something far more at home in my younger years. I found… Rayman: Origins.

PREVIEW: Dead Island (Co-op)

Remember that pretty iconic backwards trailer that took the gaming world for a spin a while ago? The one with the awesome ‘hairs on your arms stand up’ soundtrack, and emotional imagery paired with zombie carnage? If you haven’t (and I would have no idea why) you can check out our impressions of it here. For those who have already seen it, and would like to know more about the multiplayer functions of the game, read on as we have had hands-on time with Dead Island and it’s inhabitants.

Uncharted 3 is almost guaranteed to be one of the biggest games launched on the PS3 in 2011. With this in mind, several DBR writers have decided to voice their opinions on the beta levels launched recently. Chris’ account can be found below, while Ben’s article can be seen here.

The future is looking bright for Sony in the last week or so. A strong showing at E3 and the PSN troubles seeming like nothing more then a bad day at the office and we find ourselves at the beginning of July, and with it we find ourselves in Uncharted territory. While you chuckle away at that coy play on words I’ll recap for whomever maybe late to this particular article.

With the recent ‘fix’ of the Playstation servers us lowly common PSN gamers received a free subscription to Playstation Plus. I didn’t really feel like it had any worth to me, it was as though they’d just taken my free PSN account and laminated it. But when it was announced that Naughty Dog was treating us PS+ subscribers to a beta for Uncharted 3‘s online multiplayer game, my mouth started to water and I saw the logic.

PREVIEW: Project Zomboid: A game you have to experience

I’m a big fan of self inflicted artfag game ideals and depth, be it the Alice and Kev blog, Permadeath run-throughs, or some of the masterfully player written experiences some people have had on indie hit Minecraft. So when our lovely writers Lemmy and Andy shot our crew a couple of alpha keys to their new game Project Zomboid, a sandbox game laden with crafting, perks, NPCs that react differently to you depending on your actions, and a multitude of medical aliments ranging from broken legs and catching diseases from dead bodies to alcohol addiction and depression… well, I couldn’t help but get a slight log on.

PREVIEW: UFC Personal Trainer

I’d like to think of myself as semi in-shape. I’m not a professional athlete by any standards but I play football a couple of times a week and am generally active. Suffice to say I wouldn’t be considered as what a lot of people imagine a stereotypical gamer to be.
