As we reported last week, an 80s 8bit hero is getting set to return, bringing us a taste of retro heaven on the iPhone and Android.

Eurogamer was the first show I have been to on this scale since the ZX Microfairs of the 80′s. This however made those ZX fairs look more like a village boot fair.
When I was young, maybe 8 years old or so, my mum decided to surprise me with a computer. It was a present that she’d organised with a neighbour down the street. I had no idea what she was planning until one morning I came down stairs to find an odd shaped cover over a desk. No one would tell me what it was until I’d finished my breakfast. Then, once finished, I was allowed to unzip the thick, grey dust sheet off the surprise.
Speaking with Gamasutra, Yu Suzuki confirmed that he plans to leave SEGA by the end of the year but that he’ll remain on as an advisor to Sega.
Recently every game I’ve had my grubby little hands on seems to have some kind of phrasing like ‘activate your online pass’ stamped on the box. A year or two ago this kind of thing wasn’t that common, but this year especially its becoming more and more apparent that this is the route video games companies are going to take against the sale of second hand games and piracy. I have to ask the question, why should us gamers suffer the brunt of this war?
As an old man, I have a loft full of history dating back to the very first days I dipped my toes into computing and videogames. If possible I would own the entire catalogue of the ‘Vintage Computing’ section on e-Bay.
“You got the touch, you got the power!” Its time to look back to the 80’s with the cartoons I grew up with, that never got made into video games. Please share with us any I might have missed, and your game pitch idea (all ideas WILL be stolen and subsequently sold).
Bringing history back to life…
Retro is cool, right? Dig out those skin-tight jeans from the back of the wardrobe, squeeze into your Converse All Stars, hide behind your hair, grab your original CND wrist wear and whether you are 20 or 40 you wouldn’t look out of place on the street today, even with the natural grey highlights! The fashion and music industry all go in cycles, but the art of gaming has always moved forward, bigger and better eye melting graphics and heart-exploding soundtracks are best, apparently.
