Sony has finally confirmed the release dates for their latest; all singing, all dancing, super handheld – the PlayStation Vita. The new hardware will be hitting retail shelves on February 22nd, with a price tag of £229.99 for the basic model with WI-FI.
I always say I am a huge Lego (and Harry Potter) fan, and I’m still not ashamed of it. The Lego gaming franchise, although often repetitive, creates some excellent titles that are both fun and imaginative, and it seems the second instalment for the Harry Potter series is no exception.
The boss over at PlayStation, Kaz Hirai, revealed today that the PlayStation Vita will only be released in Japan in 2011, with a 2012 release for Europe and USA.
During my time amongst the new games of this year, such as Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, at the Ubisoft summer showcase last week, I happened across something far more at home in my younger years. I found… Rayman: Origins.
Even though you may not know it, we are actually into the summer months of 2011 and this can only mean one thing… no not endless days of shockingly wet weather (although that is pretty much guaranteed), but the return of EA’s much loved footballing franchise FIFA.
Both games will be available on the new Playstation handheld, Vita.
Sod knows why, it sounds a bit odd to call it Vita… but that is the name of the NGP.
Riding on the back of eccentric French infused nostalgia comes Rayman: Origins! From what we were shown by Ubisoft we can expect a re-imagined trip down memory lane for us veteran gamers, and a colourful, light hearted platform adventure for those newer to the gaming circuit, damn whippersnappers!
Over the past month the disaster in Japan has had a knock on effect on the worlds technology production. From Toyota in the UK not having parts for manufacture, the NGP too is going to be affected.
Let’s get things out in the open. The NGP is a serious looking piece of kit, with Sony throwing their amazing technical weight around like a fat man on stilts. The NGP has: a five-inch, 16 million colour 960×544 OLED touch-screen, twin cameras, twin speakers, a microphone, a built in GPS (depending on the model) while boasting twin analogue sticks and a ridiculously powerful quad-core processor. Word also has it the graphics processor is so powerful it will be able to match the PS3 in terms of graphics… *fap*.
