So one year ago we all started to wave our hands in the air, like we just did not care. A year later and we still are waving our hands around, and standing in silly angles to play our games without a controller.

Since its release in November last year, Kinect has not had the best reputation with so-called ‘core’ gamers. Between Microsoft’s nauseating advertising campaign, and the year-long drought of decent Kinect titles, gamers have had more than enough reason to label Kinect as just another gimmick.
I don’t know what’s going on exactly, but there’s been a recent influx of truly brilliant trailers. From Rise of Nightmares‘ zombie host demonstrations, to Serious Sam: Double D‘s magnificently daft Gunstacking video, things were looking good for the lost art of the trailer.
U.S. sales of new games, consoles and accessories dropped 26% in July year-over-year to $707.7 million, the worst recorded monthly performance since October 2006, according to the NPD Group.
When asked by PSM3 magazine how long he thinks we’ll have to wait for the next generation of PS3 and Xbox 360, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim director, Todd Howard said he thinks “consumers are happy” with current hardware and that we wont see the consoles in 2012 “or the year after”.
Motivation – what a horrible, horrible word. I have an acoustic guitar sat in the corner of my room, it’s pretty dusty now. It’s been sat there for about 5 years and has probably only been picked up about ten times. I would try to play a couple of chords, fail miserably and give up. Because I couldn’t play the guitar I put it down and never picked it up again, I just couldn’t be bothered. I wish I could play it, but I’m not motivated to go through the hours and hours of practice. It’s the same with exercise; I had a knee operation 4 weeks ago and I thought that I would be motivated to get back in shape, strengthen my leg muscles so that I could go back to playing football every week without the worry of things snapping in my knees.
£29.99 seems a steal for upcoming Kinect shooter The Gunstringer, but to get you a little more aroused, Fruit Ninja also will be thrown in at no extra cost (when you pre-order).
During a panel, Microsoft have released more details about the podracing mode that will be included in the up coming Kinect title, Kinect Star Wars.
Moving? What is that all about? If like me your prefer to press buttons with your sausage fingers, rather than twirl around and flap your arms (while playing games), you will be very happy to learn that Ben Ward (Xbox European developer relations manager) thinks that control pads will always be a central part to Xbox’s game play.
