155 hours…
The game has been available for only 16 days now, and 6.5 of those days have been spent playing Football Manager 12… and it is for that reason that my review of the game comes somewhat belatedly. It is however a testament to the sheer addictiveness this game can succumb people to. [Editor's note - since writing this, which was admittedly a few weeks ago - sorry, Ed has racked up a total of 531 hours in 2.5 months...].
A while back, on Twitter, I described Skyrim as “a grand soul gem with a common soul in it” which, on reflection, sounds a little harsh. Unfortunately, there’s no soul size in-between “common” and “greater” and greater sounded too positive so, with that in mind, me sounding mean is entirely Bethesda’s fault…
… but mean it sounds, so I figured that it would a good idea to expand on that sentiment a little.
This is the second part of our Battlefield 3 review (single player can be found here), focusing on what some people would argue is the games main selling point: online multiplayer.
The way we play video games is changing, they have been changing for so long that most of us have not even recognised just how much of an evolution there has been. The divide between multiplayer and single player has widened with the release of Battlefield 3, because it’s not really ‘a’ game, it’s two separate games under the same banner.

Back in the day, the Worms franchise was one of the best providers of giggle-inducing yet surprisingly strategic gameplay around. You may, like me, remember hours of your younger life being consumed by some of the earlier titles. However, in this modern age of Call of Duty and Angry Birds, the Worms franchise seems to have struggled to find its place among modern gamers. Will Worms: Crazy Golf be the exception?

It’s safe to say I’ve been one of the people over the last week or two to be constantly monitoring the tweets of @milessi (Miles Jacobsen, MD of Sports Interactive), to see if he’ll finally give us the release date of the demo so we can all whet our appetites before the official release on October 21st. Yes, being a hardcore gamer, I am ever impatient.
Apple has confirmed that Steve Jobs, co-founder and former CEO of Apple, died yesterday at the age of 56.
Fans have been craving it ever since Portal 2 came out, but Valve have at last launched their first free DLC. Named ‘Peer Review’, the DLC hit the Xbox dashboard yesterday.
As mentioned originally back in May by DBR, Valve decided to slowly release the Portal 2 soundtrack for free over a series of three volumes entitled ‘Music to Test By’. Volume 2 has finally come out, and and you can find it by clicking here for the the link to both Volumes 1 and 2.
