March 2012 seems like a long way away, but if like me you’re a big fan of Mass Effect, you have no choice but to wait for the weeks and months to roll by before you get another dose of it’s epic mythology. Or do you?
‘Dead Space: Martyr’ has been written by Brian Evenson in response to Dead Space, the video game, and is a prequel fiction novel set in Chicxulub, Mexico. The main focus of the book is on geophysicist Michael Altman, although from the start you ‘live’ through different character scenarios as the story builds.
Jenn and myself went to the Dead Space 2 last week, featured here. Whilst there we managed to pick up a copy of ’Dead Space: Martyr’ and ‘Dead Space: Salvage’.
‘Salvage’ is a beautifully drawn graphic novel, and it even looks good in the gory sections. I’m not sure I’d go as far as Jenn and have it on my bedroom wall… it’s a bit too scary for me! The artist, Christopher Shy, spoke during the presentation of his work process, and then did a book signing for all attendees.
We managed to get our hands on a copy of the Guinness World Records 2011 – Gamer’s Edition early, and have been flicking through the pages since it landed on the welcome mat. The global authority behind record-breaking launched the book today, is available to buy today from any good book store, and there are some very interesting facts to find out within.
