Well… here we are, one year later after launch. How time flies.
“The Science of Skyrim” may strike you as an oxymoron, and you may therefore find it very oxymoronic of me to try to argue otherwise. Between its magic and mages, demons and dragons, potions, poisons and racist lizard men, finding science may seem as likely as finding an adult female in the Pope’s bed.
A while back, on Twitter, I described Skyrim as “a grand soul gem with a common soul in it” which, on reflection, sounds a little harsh. Unfortunately, there’s no soul size in-between “common” and “greater” and greater sounded too positive so, with that in mind, me sounding mean is entirely Bethesda’s fault…
… but mean it sounds, so I figured that it would a good idea to expand on that sentiment a little.
In the gaming community, the word Activision tends to stir up mixed emotions – and that’s putting it mildly. Many regard CEO Bobby Kotick as being a maniacal satanic overlord, who has no greater wish than to strangle every last penny from the average gamer. It’s no surprise, then, that the announcement of Call of Duty: Elite was received with an air of curious suspicion by many. The release has been a disaster from Activision’s point of view; insanely high traffic has had the service floundering in a constant sate of unavailability. So it’s only right that we ask the question: is it worth your money and time?
Batman: Arkham City has once again proven that, when handled with care and love, super hero games can and do work extremely well. Rocksteady have shown that comic book fans don’t need to play the mediocre titles that we have suffered over the years.
Eurogamer was the first show I have been to on this scale since the ZX Microfairs of the 80′s. This however made those ZX fairs look more like a village boot fair.
London, where dreams are made and your snot turns black when you have been there too long. London is also the place where industry heavyweights gather every year to battle it out to win a Golden Joystick.
