During my time amongst the new games of this year, such as Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, at the Ubisoft summer showcase last week, I happened across something far more at home in my younger years. I found… Rayman: Origins.
Remember that pretty iconic backwards trailer that took the gaming world for a spin a while ago? The one with the awesome ‘hairs on your arms stand up’ soundtrack, and emotional imagery paired with zombie carnage? If you haven’t (and I would have no idea why) you can check out our impressions of it here. For those who have already seen it, and would like to know more about the multiplayer functions of the game, read on as we have had hands-on time with Dead Island and it’s inhabitants.
We were invited to a lovely pub in the Camden area of London by Disney and TT Games to view their upcoming title, Lego: Pirates of the Caribbean. As a big collector of Lego, this was definitely not one to miss.
I was very lucky to get a preview of Star Wars: The Old Republic in London this month. The Bioware evening brought the fans from their forums together to see the game in its near finished state at the Gamerbase in the Trocadero, London.
Last weekend the DBR team were graciously invited ‘daaann laaaaandannn’ to get hands on with Codemaster’s DiRT 3. What happened next was nothing short of a rally spectacle.
The Graphic Bar on Lower James Street, Central London played host to EA Games’ next big shooter, Crysis 2. I was able to get down and dirty with both the single player campaign and the online multiplayer.
This week DBR got the opportunity to join the THQ team for a preview look at their upcoming title, Red Faction: Armageddon. The game is the 4th in the Red Faction franchise, with Guerilla being the last title back in 2009.
This week Death By Robots got the chance to get a hands-on look at the co-op levels for Codemasters’ upcoming title Operation Flashpoint: Red River. As the latest title, due out 26th April this year, is based in the country of Tajikistan, we were treated to a traditional middle-eastern buffet.
So the ladies from Death By Robots were invited to the Dead Space 2 launch party last Friday, in a crypt under a church, somewhere near a pub that sold gourmet fish finger sandwiches in London.
As you can see from the interesting pictures below of myself, and new contributor Kat, we were greeted with open arms by none other than Isaac Clarke.
Juice Box and I kindly got invited to the Capcom Christmas bash earlier in December (so this is a bit late), which was fantastically filled with booze, food and merriment. We had a job to do and dammit we were professionals…
The main focus of the afternoon was Marvel vs Capcom 3. There were literally 20+ screens set up with 95% of them showing this game. Dead Rising 2: Case West and Super Street Fighter 4 were also available to play. An impromptu SSF4 tournament did kick off half way through the afternoon, but what else would you expect from a room full of drunken geeks?
